The Story Behind Recovery Trauma

Recovery Trauma was created from lived experience. I’m Jana, and my healing journey began from a place of deep overwhelm, emotional pain, and feeling like my body and mind were constantly in survival mode.

I am a survivor of CPTSD, PTSD, and BPD — which for me meant living with constant inner stress, emotional intensity, fear of being unsafe, and feeling easily overwhelmed or shut down. My nervous system was always “on alert,” even when nothing was wrong.

I searched everywhere for help. Many places offered only talking, but what I felt inside was bigger than words. My body felt tense, exhausted, and disconnected. I wasn’t broken — my system was trying to protect me.

The biggest shift came when I learned that healing is not just about thoughts — it’s about the nervous system, the body, and gently reconnecting with yourself.

Recovery Trauma exists to share the kind of support I once needed — kind, trauma-aware tools that help people feel safer inside and move forward step by step, without pressure.

Healing from emotional trauma doesn’t have to be dramatic, intense, or rushed. For many people, it begins with something simple — having a safe space where you can talk, feel understood, and slowly make sense of what you’ve been carrying.

Sometimes just putting feelings into words helps the nervous system soften a little. There’s no “right” way to heal, and no timeline you have to meet 🤍 You’re allowed to move gently.

Some people choose therapy. Others begin with trauma-informed education, self-guided tools, somatic practices, or supportive communities. What matters most is finding what feels safe enough for you right now.
